WARNING:
This software has been tested using a CASSIOPEIA. Therefore I know
that the mips version works on that platform. I received emails from
a couple of people who ran version 1.0 on the Phillips Nino that it
ran fine on that platform. I built the sh3 version and included it here
but I have no means of testing it. In theory, it should work and the
mips should work on other models using mips processors but we all know
about theory. Reality sometimes differs. If you find that it works on
the sh3 or other mips platforms, I would be interested in hearing back
from you on that. Likewise let me know if there are problems and I'll
do what I can to update it or at least warn others. Also feel free to
submit recommendations for enhancements, improvements, or just to let
me know if you like the program.

Installation

Note: I am not providing installation support for Convert. For
information on installing CE software I recommend visiting Craig Peacock's
Windows CE pages, which is an excellent Windows CE site:

For palm-sized PC owners:

- From My Computer, open a Mobile Devices folder.
- Attach your palm-sized PC to your docking cable.
- Browse into your device into \Windows\Start Menu
- Make a new folder named "Convert".
- Browse into the newly created Convert directory
- Drag the appropriate sh3/mips Convert.exe binary
  onto your device folder

From your actual device, you can now start Convert from your Start Menu.

Operation:
The use of the program is fairly straightforward. First the user needs to
select a conversion category from the drop down list box. Select from
Temperature, Weight, Height, Length, Area, Volume or Currency. Next select
a unit you're converting from and the unit you're converting to in the From
and To list boxes. The amount to be converted may be entered either through
the supplied keyboard (where C is clear and <- is backspace) or through the
normal input methods. The "From" amount will be displayed in the edit box
at the top right as it is entered. When the correct "From" amount is displayed,
press the large "Convert" button above the number pad and the result will
be displayed to the right of the "From" amount where "Result" is initially
displayed. A "+/-" key allows switching the "From" value from positive to
negative or back.

A special case is Length-Feet/Inches. This option allows entry of a length
in the form 5'6". If converting from Feet/Inches, the entry must be include
the ' and the " to mark the feet and inches respectively. The "Feet" button
and the "Inches" buttons may be used to enter these special characters or you
may enter them directly from the keypad. The feet portion cannot have a decimal
portion to it when using this option, but the inches can so 5'6.5" is a valid
value.

The "Swap" button allows a one stroke reversal of the current conversion. The
From and To unit selections are exchanged and the values at the top of the
window are also exchanged.

Selecting Convert/Options from the menu bar will display a dialog button where the
customizable Currency units may be entered. The "Base Currency Name", "Currency
1 Name", and "Currency 2 Name" edit boxes allow the user to set the names
associated with the currencies. The last two edit boxes allow the conversion
rate in terms of the base currency to be entered. Pressing OK causes the dialog
to disappear and the entries accepted. The new names should now appear in the
From and To list boxes when the Currency Category is selected. If you do not
want to change the original values, press Cancel.

Selecting Edit/Copy from the menu bar copies the "Results" value to the clipboard.
Selection Edit/Paste from the menu bar copies the clipboard contents into the "From"
value edit box at the top left of the screen.
